I agree that DRM isn't necessarily the answer. I think PC games are trending toward microtransaction based models. However I disagree with the idea that leaving the games unprotected will mean that piracy won't be a big issue. It is a reasonable problem here, but it is a bigger one overseas. It's true that people who would buy the game for full price probably won't pirate it, but those who would otherwise provide the company with follow-up profit as the game price declines (price descrimination) are more likely to pirate in order to get the game earlier without paying the price.
